Saint Theodora and Her Promise to God

Saint Theodora and Her Promise to God

On the day she received her First Holy Communion, Saint Theodora, (also known as Saint Mother Theodore Guérin), promised to do whatever God asked of her for the rest of her life, and that is exactly what she did.

She cared for her ill mother and little sister when she was a teenager, served the school children in France as a Sister of Providence, and journeyed across the Atlantic Ocean and half of the U.S. to found elementary schools, a school for the higher education of women, and the religious community, Sisters of Providence of St-Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana. Saint Theodora accomplished this in spite of her own ill health, difficult and unsupportive superiors, prejudice, and financial and environmental challenges. She put her trust in the Lord and never faltered in believing that God helps us when following his call.

Saint Theodora and Her Promise to God is the story of this saint’s faith and works written for children and enjoyed by adults. Her inspiring story is fast-paced and exciting to read in this beautifully illustrated book.
