As we begin a new year, new month, new day--new moment, we are offered an opportunity to begin anew. We can tap into our experiences, wisdom, and compassion, put our failings behind us, and move forward in a more positive way.
Following is an excerpt from my book, Inspired Caregiving, to help guide you on your journey to a happier and better you.
Father, thank you for this new day to begin anew. I am grateful for your guidance, hopeful for all you provide.
Caregiving can make yearly resolutions challenging to uphold. Instead, try setting a daily intention, one that is realistic and in the best interest of your well-being. Your own health and happiness are as important as that of your loved one.
Yesterday is behind me. I am here today, ready to begin again, refreshed, hopeful, and happy.
Inhale and reach for the sky. Feel your body lengthening. Exhale while relaxing your arms to your sides. Repeat two more times.
Write down your intention for the day and post it on your refrigerator. Read it aloud each time you see it this week.
"It is right that you should begin again every day. There is no better way to complete the spiritual life than to be ever beginning it over again." ---Saint Francis de Sales
Every morning I raise my left leg so I can start the day off on the right foot.
